Curtis Linder

Illinois State University alumni have access to an exciting resource, the Alumni Online Directory. Similar to Facebook and Myspace, the directory allows alumni to create a profile with professional and personal information, photographs and contact information.  It’s a great way to search for former classmates and friends as well as network with others among the 165,000 Illinois State alumni.

Curtis Linder ’84 chose to establish his profile because he “enjoys staying in touch with all the great friends I made while at Illinois State, and to make it easy for a fellow alum to find me through the online directory.”  Of course as vice president of the Chicago West ISU alumni chapter and a 2006 Alumni Association Volunteer of the Year, Linder knew that other alumni might wish to contact him through the directory.  He especially likes the privacy protection component of the Find a Friend search feature, saying it is handled well and securely.  He recently hosted a Walker Hall 25-Year Reunion and get together and used the Find a Friend feature to contact some of those Walker Hall alumni.

Linder has always been active with Illinois State, both as a student and as an alum.  He served as an Association of Residence Hall representative, and said it was a “fun way to get involved in student government, since I was a political science major.”  The person who asked him to become a representative, Michael “Mac” McErlean ’82, became one of Linder’s best friends from Illinois State.  Today, they take the same train into Chicago for their work day, which for Linder is owning and managing a temporary staffing company for contract attorneys and paralegals.

To join Linder in participating in the online directory, alumni need to register on the First Time Users section of the Alumni Association Web site. Registration allows members to keep contact information updated, search the alumni online directory and receive news and event announcements directly from the Alumni Relations office. Proprietary and personal information is password protected and only available to registered users. Members can choose to keep information private from other users, yet still access services. Registered Web site users may search the online directory of Illinois State alumni using name, degree year and student activities.
