(September 25, 2006) Vice President and Provost John Presley announced the appointment of Deborah Curtis to the position of dean of the College of Education, effective October 1, 2006. The appointment was made after the College of Education Council recommended Curtis’ immediate appointment in lieu of a planned search process and after consultation with President Al Bowman.

Curtis has been a member of the Illinois State faculty for 22 years. She has a Ph.D. in curriculum and instruction from Indiana State University, a master’s degree in music education from the University of Illinois, and a bachelor’s degree in music education from MacMurray College.

Curtis has served as interim dean of the College of Education for the past 14 months.
