Homecoming royalty was brought back to Illinois State University in 2000 after an absence of many years in an effort to help promote pride and instill Homecoming traditions with both students and alumni.  Each year, students apply for selection to the Student Homecoming Court, with a king and queen selected from the court.  Likewise, an alumni king and queen are selected through a nomination process and are invited to reign with the students over Homecoming activities.

Alumni King and Queen must have attended Illinois State (Normal) University, be a member of a graduating class that has already celebrated or will celebrate its 50th reunion and be able to attend and participate in Homecoming activities, including but not limited to Homecoming hospitality headquarters, various times throughout Oct. 12 and 13, Homecoming luncheon, Oct. 12, Homecoming parade, Oct. 13, alumni tailgate tent, Oct. 13 and the football game, Oct. 13. Nominees must have demonstrated prior support to the University, through participation in alumni activities, Athletics events, boards or committees and/or support through financial contributions to the ISU Foundation.

Nominations may be for an individual for either king or queen or for a couple for king and queen.  Nominations submitted as a couple will be reviewed together.

Nominations must be made to the Alumni Relations office no later than Aug. 31 and must include the information necessary to evaluate the candidates on the above criteria.  The Illinois State University Alumni Association Homecoming Committee will make final selection of the 2007 Homecoming Alumni King and Queen, and the selected king and queen will be notified by early September.

For more information, contact the Alumni Relations office at (800) 366-4478, (309) 438-2586, or by e-mail to Angie Coughlin. Nominations should be mailed to Illinois State University, Campus Box 3100, Normal, IL  61790-3100 or faxed to (309) 438-8057.
