Joseph Reynolds ’03 travels across the country to stage the Great Urban Race (GUR). Inspired by The Amazing Race, GUR is a one-day adventure with such a mix of competition and comedy that the most intense athletes have as much fun as families.

The race starts with teams of two receiving 12 clues at the same time. Teams then scatter to solve them in any order. Some clues involve a moderate physical challenge, while others are purely mental exercise.

Reynolds is bringing the race to Illinois State this year with a race slated as part of Homecoming. The event will go beyond campus to points in Bloomington-Normal, with clues nostalgic for alums without being too obvious.

Cost to register is $55 per person until October 15, and then $70 per person on race day, which is October 16. A portion of the entry fees will go to the University’s Student Foundation Service Award Scholarship.
