Dr. Aysen Bakir has been selected as one of the three recipients of Academy of Marketing Science 2010 Outstanding Marketing Teacher Award.  The Academy of Marketing Science is a scholarly professional organization dedicated to high standards and excellence in the development and distribution of marketing knowledge and practice within the marketing discipline.  This award was introduced to recognize excellence in teaching.  The initiation of the award dates back to 1999.

Aysen Bakir joined Illinois State University in 2002.  She has taught Principles of Marketing, Integrated Marketing Communications, International Marketing, and MBA Marketing Concepts courses at Illinois State University.  Her research focuses on consumer socialization of children with a particular interest on the use of gender roles in children’s advertising, and cross-cultural consumer behavior.  Her research has been published in the prestigious journals such as Journal of Advertising, Journal of Advertising Research, and others.

She will receive the award at the Academy of Marketing Science (AMS) annual conference to be held May 26-29, 2010 in Portland, Oregon.
