One hundred percent of the Human Resource Management students who took the Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification examination during the December 2009-January 2010 testing window passed the exam.

The PHR exam is a four-hour, 225 question, multiple-choice test covering all the basic HR functions. According to the Society for Human Resource Management, the national pass rate is just 55%.

“To encourage students to become PHR certified, the MQM Department pays one-half of the PHR examination fees,” said Jim Jawahar, chair of the Department of Management and Quantitative Methods (MQM). “This credential shows mastery of the HR body of knowledge and gives an edge in the job market.”

Jawahar credits the exceptional pass rate to the students’ willingness to prepare, the expertise and dedication of the MQM faculty, and the guidance offered to students by Joseph Goodman (MQM).
