Illinois State University’s Global Review program will host a screening of the documentary film Blood is the Same on Thursday, Oct. 21, at 7 p.m. in Schroeder Hall Room 130. The film documents the plight of refugees from Sudan’s long-running civil war. The event is free and open to the public.

Following the screening, the film’s creator, Awer Bul, and fellow “Lost Boy” Magai Bul, will speak about the civil war in Sudan and the ongoing refugee crisis. The “Lost Boys of Sudan” are members of the Nuer and Dinka ethnic groups who were displaced or orphaned during the civil war from 1983 to 2005. Many of the “Lost Boys” were resettled in the United States.

The event is co-sponsored by Illinois State University’s African Student Association, Unit for International Linkages, Office of International Studies and Programs, and MECCPAC – A Dean of Students Office Diversity Initiative.
