Dave Magers ’77, M.B.A. ’86, executive vice president and chief financial officer of COUNTRY Financial, will present “Winning with Integrity—The Importance of Principles in Achieving Success” a free public presentation in Braden Auditorium on Wednesday, March 30th.

David Magers has been executive vice president and chief financial officer of COUNTRY Financial since 2003 where he is responsible for financial reporting and controls, investments, internal auditing, planning, risk management and administration at COUNTRY and its three alliance companies: Holyoke Mutual Insurance Company, Salem, Mass.; Middlesex Mutual Assurance Company, Middletown, Conn.; and Cotton States Insurance Group, Atlanta, Georgia. He also serves on the Board of Directors of the alliance companies.

Magers previously served as vice president of Property and Casualty Operations. Prior to that he was vice president of finance and treasurer for the Illinois Agricultural Association®, where he was responsible for the treasury, cash management and risk management for COUNTRY and other Illinois Agricultural Association® affiliated companies. Magers served in various accounting and finance related positions with GROWMARK Inc,. a Farm Bureau agricultural supply company from 1977-1988. A Certified Public Accountant, Magers is a member of the Illinois Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Professional and community service are priorities for Magers. He serves on various committees of the Property Casualty Insurers of America and the American Council of Life Insurers. Magers is on the board of directors of the American Red Cross of the Heartland and the McLean County Chamber of Commerce, chairs the Children’s Hospital of Illinois McLean County Milestone Capital Campaign and serves on the executive cabinet of the Children’s Hospital of Illinois Milestone Campaign, the OSF Saint Francis Medical Center Community Advisory Board and the Illinois State University Mennonite College of Nursing Advisory Board. He is a member of the finance committee of the Community Cancer Center and the boards of directors for the Community Development Corporation and the Economic Development Council of McLean County. A past chairman, Magers also serves on the advisory board of the Illinois State University Katie School of Insurance.

In 2008, the Association of Fundraising Professionals named Magers their Central Illinois philanthropy volunteer of the year. He was inducted into the Illinois State University College of Business Hall of Fame in April 2010. He was also named the 2010 Illinois State University Beta Sigma Gamma National Business Honor Society Honoree and was recognized as a 2009-10 Normal Community High School Alumni Association Distinguished Alumnus.
