Close to 200 Illinois State University undergraduate students will participate in the annual University-wide showcase of research, scholarship and creative endeavor. The Undergraduate Research Symposium will take place on Friday, April 15. The poster session is from 9 to 11 a.m. in the Bone Student Center Brown Ballroom. The Symposium is free and open to the public.

The Department of Physics will host oral presentations for several of their students in conjunction with the Research Symposium from noon to 1 p.m. in 309 Moulton Hall.

The Symposium encourages cross-disciplinary associations and focuses on communicating research to the general public. Faculty members, staff, visitors and peers will provide oral and written feedback to student participants.

A few of the research topics can be found on the Graduate School website at http://www.grad.ilstu.edu/symposium/. Click on the undergraduate abstract link and a pdf file will open with the abstracts for the topics to be presented at this year’s Undergraduate Research Symposium.

The Symposium, sponsored by the Graduate School, Research and Sponsored Programs, and the Honors Program, started 21 years ago to promote undergraduate student research.
