Metcalf School Librarian and Information Specialist Brenda Thompson is the 2011 Milner Library Honored Alum.

Thompson has worked in various school library settings. Thompson started at a small rural school for six years as a district librarian, then spent 13 years as a middle school librarian, and for the last four years has worked as a preschool-8th grade librarian. She has stayed current with all the changes in school librarianship throughout her professional career.

She earned her master’s degree in curriculum and instruction from Illinois State University in spring 2009. During her career she has focused on information literacy, technology integration, and literature appreciation. She teaches students to be 21st century information/technology experts, independent library users, and literature appreciators.
