Composers of all ages and nationalities are invited to submit original works for the 2012 RED NOTE New Music Festival Composition Competition, sponsored by Illinois State University’s School of Music. The composer of the winning work will receive a $750 prize and the work will be performed by the Chicago-based ensemble Fulcrum Point New Music Project at the RED NOTE New Music Festival at Illinois State on March 20, 2012.

Submitted original works should be scored for one to seven players from the following ensemble: violins (2), viola (1), violoncello (1), flute (dbl. piccolo or alto flute) (1), clarinet in B-flat (dbl. A, E-flat, or bass) (1), trumpet (1), horn (1), piano (1), and percussion (1 player). Works must not exceed 15 minutes in duration. Composers may submit as many works as they wish. Members of Fulcrum Point New Music Project will judge the final round of the competition.

Submission deadline is November 20. Winners will be notified by January 1, 2012.
