Position Title: Student Worker
Company: Telecom & Networking – ISU
Full time/Part time: See description
Internship /Temporary/Permanent: See description

Description:
The telecommunications and networking department is looking to add an additional student worker.

During the school year this position is part time (around 15-30 hours per week), and during the summer we prefer students to work full time (37.5 hours per week). It is very important that the student is available to work for most of the summer. We are looking for students that would be able to remain in this position for at least one year.

There will be an opportunity for you to spend the summer of 2013 working with our engineers on a project that would satisfy the ITK internship requirement.

Student workers are in charge of hardware inventory, un-boxing new products, mounting and un-mounting hardware from equipment racks, wiring in new hardware, and keeping the networking storage room organized. They also maintain Visio diagrams of network configurations, and during the summer they perform inventory for property control. Student workers will also perform miscellaneous tasks (updating port descriptions, basic switch/server/router maintenance tasks, picking up mail) and help the network engineers with heavy lifting and other multi-person jobs.

Finally, our student workers help maintain the battery backup units installed throughout campus. All applicants should be able to bend, stoop, and lift at least 50lbs. Installation and transport of heavy equipment is a significant component of this job.

This is a great opportunity to learn about a wide variety of Cisco networking hardware, APC power systems, Dell and Sun servers, and the overall design of the ISU network.
