Senior mass media major Jessamyn Amezquita of Chicago is the sole recipient of the prestigious Abe Voron Scholarship.

The Broadcast Education Association awards the $5,000 scholarship nationally to one student focused on radio.

Amezquita is the promotions director at ISU’s student radio station, 103.3 WZND. She is the third consecutive WZND student to capture the award, according to faculty advisor Deb Lesser ’83, M.S. ’84.
“This scholarship recognizes Jessamyn as one of the top radio students in the country. She is such a hard worker, and is really deserving of this award,” Lesser said.

Amezquita is in charge of all station contests and promotions. She manages WZND’s social media and promotions staff, and serves on the management council. She has also completed an internship with Clear-Channel at KISS FM in Chicago.
