This summer’s Concerts on the Quad at Illinois State University will begin on Monday, July 2, with the fiery bluegrass mandolin and impassioned vocals of the Ashley Lewis Band. The concerts, which are free and open to the public, begin at 7 p.m. on five consecutive Mondays in front of Cook Hall on the northwest corner of the Quad. Audience members are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs or blankets.

The concerts will continue July 9, with a performance by Jimmy’s Bavarians, Chicago’s number one oompah band. The group will play old and new favorites in both English and German, including songs from Oktoberfest in Munich. An Evening of Chamber Music on July 16 will feature Illinois State string faculty and guest artists. Illinois State music faculty and guests will present An Evening of Jazz on July 23. The July 30 concert, Singing Under the Stars, will feature favorites from the Broadway and the operatic stage sung by Illinois State music faculty and guest artists.

In case of inclement weather, the concerts will be presented in the Center for the Performing Arts Concert Hall. If a change of locations is necessary, it will be announced after 5 p.m. on radio stations WGLT, WJBC, and WBNQ.

Concerts on the Quad are presented by Illinois State University’s College of Fine Arts and School of Music in conjunction with The Pantagraph, the Mirza Fund for Arts and Culture of the Illinois Prairie Community Foundation, Horine’s Pianos Plus, and the Fell Trust.
