It is with great pleasure that we announce Dan Goebel, professor of marketing, as the new associate dean for academic programs and maintenance of accreditation for the College of Business. He will begin his duties on July 1, 2012. Goebel joined Illinois State University in 2001 as an assistant professor of marketing. He has a Ph.D. degree in business administration from the University of South Florida, an M.B.A. degree from Illinois State University, and a B.S. degree in accounting with honors from Eastern Illinois University. Before joining ISU he taught at both the University of South Florida and the University of Southern Mississippi. In addition, he was employed as an accounting manager with Frito-Lay prior to pursuing his Ph.D.

Goebel’s research interests include sales force performance, cross-functional relationships, and marketing pedagogy. He has published journal articles in various outlets including the: Journal of Business and Industrial Marketing, Journal of Business to Business Marketing, Journal of Personal Selling and Sales Management, and Journal of Business Research. In addition, he has many academic presentations, published proceedings, and published case studies. He recently served as acting chair for the Department of Marketing. In that acting role he chaired the annual review committee, served as the liaison for student issues, represented the department in college and university meetings, interacted with alumni, monitored course registrations, and helped organize the annual awards event. In addition, he chaired the Human Resource Development Team for two years and worked with the research director to provide professional development activities for faculty. He is looking forward to helping to “create an environment in which faculty, staff, and students can excel.”
