The nation has almost 100,000 National Board Certified Teachers (NBCTs) and 5,153 of them are in the state of Illinois. This is due to the commitment to teacher quality by a diverse group of support providers (among them, state agencies, business and educational leaders, parents) and the efforts of a university-based resource center. The National Board Resource Center (NBRC) at Illinois State University, established in 1999, is dedicated to ensuring that all students have access to the accomplished teaching of NBCTs.
