Illinois State University’s Homecoming, with the theme “Get Your Groove On,” will be Oct. 1 though Oct. 7.

Tuesday, Oct. 2

Redbird Rumble Teams Competition –
Catch the competition between Illinois State’s student organizations and campus departments at the Redbird Rumble on Tuesday, Oct. 2, at 
 7 p.m. in Hancock Stadium.

Wednesday, Oct. 3

Women’s soccer game – Cheer on the Redbird Women’s soccer team vs. Loyola Chicago 
on Wednesday, Oct. 3, at 4 p.m. at the Adelaide Street Field.

Thursday, Oct. 4

October’s Own Homecoming Concert – A concert of up-and-coming musical performers will take over the Illinois State Quad at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 4, for the October’s Own Homecoming Concert. The event is free and open to the public. In case of inclement weather, the location will be the Brown Ballroom in the Bone Student Center.

Friday, Oct. 5

Family skate – The Pepsi Ice Center in Bloomington will host a special Redbird Colors Open Skate 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Participants are encouraged to wear Illinois State gear to save $1 off the price of admission in the open skate.

Bring It To The Stage Variety Show – Enjoy the talents of Illinois State students, faculty and staff, and catch the excitement of the crowning of the Homecoming King and Queen at 7 p.m. in the Brown Ballroom in the Bone Student Center.

Step Show – Take in the quick footwork and school pride of students as they take part in a step show at 7 p.m. in Braden Auditorium in the Bone Student Center.

Saturday, Oct. 6

Town and Gown 5K Run – The annual Illinois State University and Town of Normal Town and Gown 5K Run will be held at 7:30 a.m. For more information to go online to illinoisstatehomecoming.com/5k.

Homecoming Parade – It’s a new time for a perennial favorite – the 2012 Homecoming parade steps off at 9:30 a.m. at the corner of University Street and College Avenue. Applications for parade entry are available at the Homecoming website. All forms must be turned in by Wednesday, Oct. 3. Cash prizes will be awarded for floats and marching bands. Community entries are limited to the first 50 registrations.

Redbird football, tailgating, shuttles – The Redbirds will take on Southern Illinois at 1 p.m. at Hancock Stadium. Reserve tickets through the Illinois State Athletics Ticket Office by calling (309) 438-8000, emailing tickets@IllinoisState.edu or going to GoRedbirds.com . For those planning on tailgating, go online to get details and a map of new locations at illinoisstatehomecoming.com/redbird-football/.

The map is also a guide to area road closures and free shuttles that will take Homecoming fans around campus. The main shuttle stop will be at the Alumni Center at 1101 N. Cloud Music Festival – Experience the musical talents of Illinois State students at The Cloud Music Festival 
 from 5 to 8 p.m. on the Quad.

Price is Right, Live – Take part in one of America’s favorite game shows with The Price is Right, Live! at 7:30 p.m. at the Bloomington Center for the Performing Arts. Lucky audience members will get to spin the Big Wheel and possibly head to the Showcase Showdown. General admission is $35. For orders of four or more tickets, the cost is $29.90 per ticket. Sunday, Oct. 7

Reggie Day at Miller Park Zoo – Reggie fans are invited to the Miller Park zoo with Reggie Day set from 1 to 3 p.m. Cost is $3.50 per person ages 3 to 12, and 60 and up. Adults ages 13 to 59 are $5. Children under the age of 3 are free. Meet featured storyteller and Illinois State alumnus Mike Lockett.

B.Y.O.D. (Bring Your Own Dance…and more!) – The Impact Dance Team will hold the 4th Annual B.Y.O.D. (Bring Your Own Dance…and more!) at 1 p.m. in Braden Auditorium at the Bone Student Center. Alumni, students, parents, faculty and staff can enjoy exciting dance performances by Illinois State’s dance teams and clubs while supporting a great cause, the Unity Community Center. There is no cost to attend but would appreciate any donations to help support the Unity Community Center.

Throughout Homecoming

Milner Library exhibit – Milner Library will help the campus celebrate Homecoming with an exhibit titled Re-Living the Celebration: A look back at the themes of ISU’s Homecoming. The exhibit begins Saturday, Sept. 15 and will run until Wednesday, Oct. 31.

Normal Theater Film Festival – A collection of movies featuring the work of Illinois State alumni will be shown at the Normal Theater during Homecoming week. The Illinois State Homecoming Film Fest will take place Tuesday, Oct. 2 and Wednesday. Oct. 3, featuring Illinois State alumni. Check the Normal Theater website for details at www.normatheater.com.

Enjoy stage performances during Homecoming with Anon(ymous) running from Wednesday, Oct. 3 to 6, and the Glory of Living from Thursday, Oct. 4 to 6. Anon(ymous) begins at 7:30 p.m. at the Center for Performing Arts. Tickets are $17 for adults and $12 for students and seniors, and can be purchased at www.cityblm.org. Glory of Living will begin at 7:30 p.m. in Centennial West 207. Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for students and seniors.
