An opening act has been announced for the Matchbox Twenty concert at Braden Auditorium at Illinois State University on February 6, 2013.

Phillip Phillips, the winner of the 11th season of American Idol and the singer/songwriter of the hit song “Home” will open for Matchbox Twenty.

Phillips launched to number one on the iTunes pop charts and stayed in the Top 5 for eight weeks, eventually going double platinum with his first hit single, “Home.” The Leesburg, Georgia-bred songwriter is gearing up to record his first album for 19 entertainment/Interscope Records. He’ll bring songs from his upcoming album to Braden.

Tickets for the concert are on sale now. Reserved seat tickets ($75 / $55 / $39) are available for purchase at Braden Box Office, all Ticketmaster outlets, charge by phone at (800) 745-3000 and online at Ticketmaster.com .     Phillips’ “upcoming album” was released in November and has been number one on Billboard’s rock chart for three consecutive weeks. BTW, his single will soon reach triple platinum.
