Choosing a major or career can be a big decision. That’s why the Career Center is pleased to bring career development expert Jon Schlesinger, M.Ed. to campus to help students and alumni identify the best major or career match for their skills, interests, and abilities.

During the Exploring Majors and Careers in a Changing World Lunch and Learn event on January 28, held at the Bone Student Center Prairie Room from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m., Schlesinger will explain how to break down the self-discovery process and uncover the factors that influence one’s path while also providing the necessary tools for a complete search. Faculty and staff are also invited to attend.

Schlesinger is the assistant director for Career Counseling at the University of Colorado Boulder. Previously, he served as the assistant director for Career Development at the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida, and as a career counselor and intern at University Career Services, Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. Schlesinger has a M.Ed. in Counseling from DePaul University, in Chicago with a concentration in Community Mental Health and College Student Development.

His interest is in college student career development, assessment, and measuring career learning outcomes. His recent focus has been expanding Chaos Theory of Careers as a career development model and framework for college students. Schlesinger is active in the National Career Development Association, and has served on the executive board for the Florida Career Development Association.
