Outstanding levels of external support
The College of Education continued its excellent track record for securing external support for faculty research, receiving more than $11.3 million in grants and contracts for FY12.
Foundations holdings
The College of Education, in close cooperation with the COE senior and associate directors of Development, sustained another year of impressive success with efforts to increase endowments and funds available to support college initiatives and COE students. To date, the total of the principal and expendable amounts of the college’s holdings in the ISU Foundation is $14,982,390, and the current sum of giving to the COE from July 1, 2011, to June 30, 2012, was $1,285,824.
In addition, the total amount of active deferred gifts for the College of Education is $5,880,066, representing documented planned gifts from 53 different individual donors.
Laboratory Schools
Fundraising for the COE Laboratory Schools reached a milestone this fiscal year. Since the beginning of the campaign for fundraising for the Laboratory Schools—University High School and Thomas Metcalf School—alumni and friends have contributed and pledged more than $2.5 million for the support of students, facility renovations, faculty development, and student scholarships/endowments. The current total of the principal, savings, and expendable amounts of the Laboratory School’s holdings in the ISU Foundation is $1,263,016.
In addition, the total amount of active deferred gifts for the Laboratory Schools is $234,502, representing documented planned gifts from 11 different individual donors.
Scholarships for students
Scholarships for education students are made possible through the thoughtfulness and generosity of a growing number of donors and friends. In FY12, the college awarded scholarships to 123 education majors totaling approximately $223,188.
During fiscal year 2012, donors established nine new scholarships and endowments for the College of Education and the Laboratory Schools:
