Health Promotion and Wellness is looking to expand its massage program to students, beginning in Fall 2013.

Currently, faculty and staff massages are offered on a bi-monthly basis. In order to best serve students, Health Promotion and Wellness is looking for feedback to help build the program. Students are asked to take a brief, five-question online survey. Survey responses are anonymous unless a participant chooses to enter his/her email address.

Why massage?

Studies show that massage is an effective treatment for reducing stress, pain, and muscle tension. While more research is needed to confirm the full benefits of massage, some studies have found massage may also be helpful for:

  • Anxiety
  • Digestive disorders
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Headaches
  • Insomnia related to stress
  • Soft tissue strains or injuries
  • Sports injuries
  • Other pain

If you have any questions whether or not massage is right for you, please talk with someone at Student Health Services, your healthcare provider, or a licensed massage therapist.
