Photo of CTLT Coordinator, Jim GeeWe have a new arrival at CTLT! Jim Gee, a recent graduate of the master’s program in the School of Communication, began his work as Coordinator, Communication and Faculty Development, on July 1, 2013. Jim comes to CTLT with a wealth of experience in both communication and teaching, making him the perfect candidate for this position. Here at CTLT, Jim will be responsible for helping streamline and enhance both internal and external communication. Watch for upgrades to our website (do you like our new design?), the newsletter (do you get it?), and more. We’ll also be making better use of social media (do you follow us on Twitter? have you liked us on Facebook?). It’s all very exciting.

The “other” part of Jim’s job involves supporting faculty who want to make use of (or enhance their use of) social and new media in their teaching. During the application process, Jim told us, “I am looking for a position that allows me to apply both my media and classroom experience in a meaningful way. … I am excited by the prospect of working with current media technology and interacting with faculty colleagues across campus to further the mission of the University. I am a fervent believer in the idea of public higher education, and I believe it is critical for ISU to remain on the leading edge in the use of classroom technology to prepare our students across the curriculum to enter our media-saturated society.”

If you have questions about integrating new and social media into your teaching, you can reach Jim at jpgee@ilstu.edu or 438-8931. He’s looking forward to meeting you.
