U.S. military veterans seeking employment are invited to attend the Career Center’s Veterans Seminar from 4–5 p.m. October 9 in 110 Moulton Hall.

Attendees will learn how to transfer military or other out-of-the classroom experiences into transferable skills that can be included on a resume or shared in an interview. Open to veterans from all majors, the seminar will also provide information on what employers are looking for and how to be marketable while searching for jobs.

“Our servicemen and women learn a broad base of skills through their experiences during their call of duty, including communication, organization, leadership, and so many others, in addition to those they developed related to their major or area of service,” said Career Center Senior Assistant Director Maureen Roach. “These skills are in high demand in the workplace today. So veterans need to know how to transfer their experiences and skills into their professional resume to fully capture and display the skills and expertise they have acquired beyond the classroom.”

Roach also serves as the Career Center advisor for Illinois State students and alumni who are veterans. For more information about the Veterans Seminar or for a one-on-one appointment with Roach, call the Career Center at (309) 438-2200.
