After 10 busy years, Sharron Evans ’93, M.S.E. ’97, returned to Illinois State University and joined her former University Housing Services colleagues in celebration of Homecoming 2013. One look at her resume explains why it has been so long between visits. Evans completed her J.D. from The John Marshall Law School in May of this year and recently started a new position as the director of the student rights and responsibilities office at Northeastern Illinois University.

Evans made the most of her time at Illinois State and was quickly impressed by the changes in her alma mater since holding the position of area coordinator of Watterson Towers.  And “just like old times,” she jumped right in and was put to work by assisting as a judge with the Homecoming lobby decorating contest and facilitating a professional development session for residence hall staff.

Like so many Redbirds, Evans’ experiences at Illinois State helped to shape her future. Opportunities afforded to Evans not only enriched her student and work experience, but also provided a solid foundation for her future. The Division of Student Affairs is committed to developing the character and values that students will carry with them into their personal and professional lives. Our staff is dedicated to enhancing pride, inclusion, and engagement in Illinois State and strives to do so in their work with students and staff each and every day.
