With winter break coming soon, it is tempting to curl up under a blanket, eat some good comfort food, and get away from your normal exercise habits. However, be creative on how you can keep active even if you can’t get to the gym.

Cleaning the house, shoveling the driveway, or carrying in groceries will not only keep you active, but can score you some points with your family at the same time. Once you get back from break, come back to the Student Fitness Center where we have several new ways for you to stay active during the spring semester.

We will be launching INSANITY group fitness classes this semester, allowing you to turn up your workout a notch with our certified instructors. INSANITY, as made famous by Shaun T., will be a part of our normal class schedule, plus we will be hosting a kickoff event from 5-7 p.m. January 27 at the SFC.

You can also look for a new dimension of climbing this semester with our new bouldering cave. Improve your strength and climbing technique just a few feet above the ground without the need for ropes or harnesses. Bouldering will be available during all open climbing hours.

If you’re looking for a fun, sustainable way to get around campus, Campus Recreation will provide free daily bike rentals through the Reggie Ride program. Simply check out a bike with your Redbird Card in the Student Fitness Center, ride it where you need to go, and return it by the end of the day.

We’re also making it easier than ever to reach your fitness goals with our qualified personal trainers. We’ll be offering special incentive programs when you sign up for personal training sessions, including a variety of giveaways and discounts.
