Illinois State University alumni, faculty, staff, students, and friends will celebrate Founders Day on February 20. Events include the annual Bell Ringing Ceremony, Founders Day Convocation, and Alumni Awards ceremony.

The 2014 honorary degree recipient is David L. Brown. Brown is a Metcalf School and University High School graduate and a preeminent trial and appellate lawyer in private practice in Des Moines, Iowa.

Brown has strong ties to Illinois State University. He is a son of the late Francis R. ’37 and Helen Tucker Brown. His father was a math professor and later a university administrator who worked closely with Presidents Robert G. Bone and Samuel J. Braden, among others. The Brown Ballroom is named for his family in appreciation of their support for and love of the University.
