School of Kinesiology and Recreation faculty members Kristen Lagally and Dan Dodd (exercise science) and Mary Henninger and Skip Williams (physical education teacher education) hosted around 35 Noah’s Ark preschoolers for a physical activity field trip February 21.

Influenced by the Winter Olympics, the preschoolers participated in paper plate ice skating and “speed” skating on slideboards. They also did ice hockey and curling.

The children learned to identify sedentary and heart healthy activities, and discussed ways to be more active during screen time. Nursing students helped with a discussion of the heart and heart rate.

Physical education faculty organized developmental skills and fun fitness activities, such as obstacle courses and hula hoop huts. And back by popular demand was crawling through the downward dog tunnel!
