Please enter the high school complex off of Route 22/Half Day Road, park in Parking Lot B, and enter the West Building through the Forum Entrance (Entrance 1). Refer to these maps.

A light breakfast—coffee, juice, fruit, and pastries—and a buffet-style lunch, including vegetarian options, will be provided for free.

Conference registration

There is no registration fee; however, you must submit the online registration form no later than April 1.

10–10:15 a.m. Welcome, introductions, and conference overview Mike Sublett (Illinois State University)
10:15 a.m.–noon Session 1: GPS on the School Campus Greg Sherwin (Adlai E. Stevenson High School) and Crystal Williams (Illinois State University). Hand-held GPS units will be used in this activity. Teachers will be able to borrow classroom sets of these same GPS units to use in their classrooms in the future at no charge.
noon–1 p.m. Lunch buffet and informal discussion/networking
1–1:40 p.m. Session 2: Apps, Maps, and AP Human Geography James Dzialo (Adlai E. Stevenson High School) and Matthew Wahl (Dundee Crown High School)
1:40–1:50 p.m. Break
1:50–2:30 p.m. Session 3: Online Atlas of Illinois Jill Thomas, Crystal Williams, and Amy Bloom (Illinois State University). We will share a new, free interactive online atlas designed, developed, and supported by the Illinois Geographic Alliance and Illinois State University. After a brief overview of the online atlas and accompanying lesson plans, we will demonstrate how to actually use the atlas in the classroom through interactive activities, including those geared towards AP Human Geography.
2:30–2:45 p.m. Session 4: Introducing the ESRI ArcGIS Educational K–12 License for the State of Illinois—a new program to bring free ESRI GIS software to Illinois schools Judy Bock (Elmhurst University)
2:45–3 p.m. Conference Wrap-up Amy Bloom (Illinois State University and Illinois Geographic Alliance)
