The inaugural recipients of the Steve and Sandi Adams Legacy Hall of Fame were inducted February 28 in the Circus Room of the Bone Student Center.

The awards, sponsored by the Division of Student Affairs, are named in honor of Vice President Emeritus Steve Adams and Sandi Adams for their many years of service and commitment to Illinois State University.

Those honored included Joanette McBounds ’08, a graduate of the School of Information Technology and College of Applied Science and Technology. McBounds earned a bachelor’s degree in information systems from Illinois State. While at Illinois State, she was a delegate to the 2006 Illinois Resident Assistant Association conference, and was the recipient of the TriO/Student Support Services (SSS) Student of the Year Award for two consecutive years. She is founder and executive director of the nonprofit organization Sowing S.E.E.D.S. (Sowing Success through Education to Encourage Dreams to Soar), which provides educational programming for youth including scholarship and college preparation workshops.

Induction into the Hall of Fame is an honor bestowed upon alumni who served as student leaders or student employees in the Division of Student Affairs. Recipients are recognized for their contributions while on campus and their postgraduation commitment to living the values of Illinois State.

“The Hall of Fame recognizes the recipients’ dedication to the role holistic education plays in the life of a student, as well as their loyalty to Illinois State University,” said Larry Dietz, vice president of the Division of Student Affairs.
