A group of physical education students went to Springfield March 19 to advocate for physical education in the schools.

They met with representatives of the House to advocate for a bill that would permit physical and health educators be deemed “highly qualified” and to oppose a bill that would allow students in grades nine through 12 to waive out of physical education if they had enrolled in two or more Advanced Placement courses.

Illinois State students who attended the trip were Garrett Englund, Katie Scroggins, Brennan Jadin, Ryan Lemke, Jeff Peterson, Lauren O’Boyle, Dan Bajek, Craig Cichowicz, Stephan Banda, and Sierra Burris.
