Sister Circles: I’m Every Woman will feature businesswoman Shannon Leon from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m in the Prairie Room of the Bone Student Center Saturday, March 29. Sponsored by Diversity Advocacy and Women’s and Gender Studies, the event is free and open to the public.
Leon is the sole proprietor of a Cold Stone Creamery in Atlanta, Ga., co-owner of BreathLes Printing and BreathLes Publishing and owner of Clover Entertainment, a television and film production investment company. She will share her story of how she used her leadership, planning and perseverance as a 20-something single mother and college student to become a successful entrepreneur and soon-to-be author.
As a child, Leon grew up in a humble, working class family striving to achieve their dreams of financial independence. During college, she worked several jobs from receptionist to hostess and landed an internship at Arista Records. It was through those experiences that she learned the skill of challenging herself by working long hours, financial planning and listening to successful entrepreneur mentors.
I’m Every Woman is a workshop focused on leadership development and empowerment of women. Through small group activities, reflection and dialogue, participants will be able to identify their leadership style and identify strategies to combat obstacles and stereotypes.
Lunch will be provided for participants. Registration is required for this event by Friday, March 21.
