School of Art Professor Claire Lieberman’s show Ice Guns will open at Hot Wood Arts Center in Brooklyn, New York, this month.

Join her from 6–11 p.m. July 25 for a special reception for Illinois State University alumni to discover art that is both dangerous and beautiful. There will also be live music by The Judy Blooms and other bands.

Lieberman’s show is on view from July 25 through August 17 and is part of a duo show with Jason Maas.

Ice Guns is a series of glass sculptures rendered in clear, colored, or sparkling blown and hot-sculpted glass.

“Traversing a range from realistic and lethal-looking to childlike ray-gun fantasies, (Lieberman’s Ice Guns) make us question our illusions of childhood’s playful innocence by reminding us of the child’s all too real fascination with violence,” explains art historian and critic, Howard Risatti.
