The National Science Foundation (NSF) is again accepting proposals for its Major Research Instrumentation program (MRI).

This grant will provide up to $4 million to acquire or develop a piece of research equipment. This year, proposals will be due January 22, 2015.

This is a limited submission opportunity: Illinois State can only submit two proposals (or three, if at least one is for instrument development, rather than acquisition).

Because of this, if you are interested in submitting a MRI proposal, please provide Research and Sponsored Programs (RSP) with a preliminary proposal by September 1, 2014. The preliminary proposal should comprise a one-page white paper describing the instrument and the work that will be done and a one-page description of the personnel and their qualifications. It should be submitted by e-mail to Jason Wagoner (jwagone@ilstu.edu). If necessary, the preliminary proposals will be reviewed by the College Research Coordinators, and successful investigators will be notified in October.

More information about the MRI program is available on the NSF website. If you have questions, please contact RSP at (309) 438-2528 or researchoffice@IllinoisState.edu.
