Are you planning a visit to Illinois State University this fall? With three Open Houses to attend, there are plenty of opportunities to visit our beautiful campus, meet current students and faculty, and get a taste of Redbird life.
Open House provides a full day of tours, fairs, and programs that you can choose to attend. So how do you make the most of your day at an Open House?
Here are a few tips to get you ready for an Illinois State Open House:
ASK QUESTIONS OF CURRENT STUDENTS
Current students love to talk about their experiences at Illinois State, and hearing their stories is the best way to imagine your life as a Redbird. Attend the Main Session in the morning to ask questions to a student panel. Walk around the Registered Student Organization Fair to hear about student groups, and ask your student tour guide a lot of questions while walking around campus.
TAKE THE AFTERNOON TOURS
To make the most of your time, we encourage you to take the Residence Hall and Campus Tours in the afternoon. This allows you plenty of time to attend the Academic Fair, Financial Aid session, and special student sessions in the morning. You can hop on one of the tours anytime until 2 p.m.
LEARN ABOUT YOUR ACADEMIC PROGRAM
All of the Illinois State academic departments attend the Academic and Student Services Fair. Stop by the academic programs that you are interested in to learn more. This is a great opportunity to talk to advisors, learn about coursework, and see the potential for your future career. Some departments also hold more in-depth presentations in the afternoon.
ATTEND A FINANCIAL AID SESSION
Are you curious about the cost of school and wondering what your options are to pay for it? Our financial aid experts will give you the lowdown on all of the ways that you can invest in your future. Scholarships, grants, student jobs, and loans are all covered.
EXPLORE UPTOWN NORMAL
You can spend four of the best years of your life in one of the best college towns in the nation. Uptown Normal’s quaint business district provides students with locally owned restaurants and shops just a few minutes’ walk from campus. Take a walk and see for yourself just how close and convenient uptown’s services are.
