For Kayla Kniep, coming to Illinois State without a major her freshman year was stressful.

“It seemed like all my friends already knew what they wanted to do,” she said.

But the undeclared student took advantage of several different resources at Illinois State to eventually find a major that fit. Today, she’s a sophomore human resource management major in the College of Business.

Watch Kayla’s story above, and see how she used her academic advisor, professors, and the Career Center’s Career Choice class and other tools. You can also watch other #BirdofMouth videos.

This year, around 14 percent of the enrolled freshman class is undeclared. At Illinois State, you can choose from 165 bachelor’s degree options. Check out a full list of our majors.
