The November Dean of Students Office Student Spotlight is Jen Jaroch, a senior mathematics major. She learned about the Dean of Students Office during Welcome Week and knew she wanted to get involved. She has been a member of the University Program Board, participates in ISULeads, and volunteers for various service projects.

Jaroch is also a Campus Involvement Ambassador (CIA) and encourages students to get involved in organizations that pertain to their leadership, major, and interests. As a member of CIA, she is a resource that students can use to get involved on campus or receive assistance for their registered student organization.

By getting involved at Illinois State, Jaroch found her common purpose. Jaroch is very goal-oriented and is motivated to help others. “Being involved made me feel like I wasn’t just one person out of 20,000 on campus, but I was one who could make a difference,” she said. She believes any student can create change and start new things.

Jaroch is grateful for her experiences in the Dean of Students Office (DoS) and at Illinois State and wants her fellow Redbirds to have the same experiences: “The DoS encompasses so many areas of our campus and they are here for our benefit. Learn more about their services because they want to make sure students are happy and get the most out of their college experiences.”
