The controversial Three Gorges Dam will be the cultural lecture at the next meeting of AsiaConnect.
The meeting will be at noon Friday, Oct. 24, in room 412 of the State Farm Hall of Business. The campus is invited, and participants are invited to bring a dish to pass.
Retired biology faculty member Tak Cheung will provide a historical overview of the cultural, economic and environmental impact of the Three Gorges Dam – a controversial dam that spans the Yangtze River, displacing more than 1.3 million people and flooding archeological and cultural sites in China.
AsiaConnect is a campus affinity group established to promote Asian cultures and represents the interests, needs and concerns of Asian faculty, staff and students. It is open to everyone who shares and supports these ideas.
