Bring a lunch and join the roundtable discussion for the Safe Zone Brown Bag series from noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 3, in room 314 of the Student Services Building.

This brown bag will examine and define “down low” in the LGBT community. The discussion will explore the origin of the term, history, statistics and media portrayal, while engaging in thought-provoking discussions and hearing the stories behind men who identify as down low.

Safe Zone brown bags are an opportunity for the campus to engage in guided discussions about lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender issues. Join students who identify as LGBT as they share their stories and experiences about their coming out process, support from the University, relationships with friends and family as well as challenges and successes. Previous attendance at a Safe Zone orientation is not required.

This event is sponsored by Diversity Advocacy and The Illinois Safe Schools Alliance.
