Illinois State University School of Music faculty members and a guest harpsichordist will present a free concert of chamber works by Baroque masters at 7 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 18, in the University’s Kemp Recital Hall. The performance is part of the School of Music’s Charles W. Bolen Faculty Recital Series.

The program will feature chamber works by George Frederic Handel, Johann Sebastian Bach and Jean-Philippe Rameau, performed by Sarah Gentry, violin; Adriana Ransom, cello; Kim Risinger, flute; and guest harpsichordist Stephen Alltop, a faculty member in Northwestern University’s Bienen School of Music.

Violinist Sarah Gentry will perform using the 250-year-old ex Persinger, Guarneri ‘Del Gesu’ violin. The instrument, which belonged to performer and teacher Louis Persinger in the early 20th century, is now in the possession of two Illinois State alumni who have provided it for this performance.
