Assistant Professor of French Jennifer Howell will present The Musings of a Francophoniste: Reevaluating French and Francophone Studies at American Public Universities at 3 p.m.  Wednesday, Feb. 4, in Stevenson Hall, room 202.

In her talk, Howell will examine different approaches to postcolonial literatures and cultures of the French-speaking world.

Howell’s research and teaching explore contemporary French and Francophone literatures, as well as Francophone literatures of the African diaspora. She also studies The Beur Novel and Bande Dessinée as well as the concept of memory and history in postcolonial literatures.

She holds degrees in French and biology from the Ohio University, a D.E.A. in English from Université Rennes 2 and a Ph.D. in French and Francophone world studies from the University of Iowa.
