Thousands of students from all over the region are expected on campus for the upcoming Midwest Bisexual Lesbian Gay Transgender Ally College Conference (MBLGTACC), and volunteers are still needed.

The national conference, which will be hosted at Illinois State University from Feb. 13 to 15, includes workshops on various topics that impact the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community. The three-day event is an opportunity for LGBT students, allies and advisors to meet in a safe and supportive environment.

Those interested in volunteering with registration or other duties can visit the volunteer page on the MBLGTACC website and complete the online volunteer form. All volunteers must sign up for a short training session.

“This year’s conference theme is Narrating a New Normal, playing off the town’s name, but mostly acknowledging that being part of the LGBT community is becoming a new ‘normal,’” said Megan Rolfs, MBLGTACC advisor. “Narration reflects the idea everyone has a story to tell about their own personal experiences.”
