Winter isn’t just about the rain, snow, and slush. Experience the beauty of the elements during the Adventure program’s Winter Waterfalls Day Hike to Starved Rock State Park on February 21 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

As the Midwest winter days come to an end, enjoy the last of nature’s winter wonderland on this brisk day-long adventure. Explore the snow-dusted woodlands through Starved Rock State Park and enjoy some exercise and great stories with your fellow Redbirds. Witness the natural ice sculptures of the 14 waterfalls and beautiful surroundings throughout the day.

“During this day trip we get to see unique versions of the many waterfalls at Starved Rock. Water in the winter takes on a completely different beauty than any other time of year,” said Jennifer Holcombe, coordinator of Adventure programs. “My favorite part of this trip is appreciating the beauty around me regardless of the season.”

Each participant must register by noon February 19. The fee for this trip is $20 for members of the Student Fitness Center and $25 for nonmembers. The price includes a hot lunch, equipment for the trip, transportation and a chance to see the stunning side of winter.
