The Career Center is pleased to announce the launch of its new online experiential learning/internship module as part of its Hire-A-Redbird job posting system. The new system provides value to both students who are participating in internships, and to the internship coordinators and faculty who oversee them.

With the new module students can

  • Search and apply for internships/professional practice experiences
  • Add such experiences to their academic profile whether taken “for credit” or “not for credit”
  • Track and submit their hours completed
  • List and track tasks and responsibilities completed during an internship
  • Evaluate internship experience

The new module allows internship coordinators and faculty members to

  • View, approve, and track student internship information
  • Search and sort student internship information by major, term, or class level
  • Send emails to students individually, by class, or by major
  • View list of upcoming Career Center job and internship fairs and the attending recruiting companies
  • Identify upcoming Career Center career development programs and events
  • View dates for recruiter informational sessions on campus
  • Research employment and industry trends, such as hiring trends, and more

“As a centralized provider for career development and readiness on campus, the Career Center is proud to be able to offer Illinois State with this innovative online tool,” said Career Center Acting Director Pamela Cooper. “The Career Center has always allowed students to search and apply for full-time jobs and internships. However, with Hire-A-Redbird and its new experiential learning/internship module, students, Career Center staff, internship coordinators, and faculty members now have mutual access to student internship records for improved communication, increased collaboration, and data storage.”

Students, internship coordinators, and faculty can create their Hire-A-Redbird profile at HireARedbird.IllinoisState.edu. For more information, contact Internship Manager Debbie Ungson-Walbert.
