The Department of Psychology and the industrial/organizational-social psychology graduate sequence will present a talk, titled “The Case Against the Realistic Attitude: The Role of Art in Coping With Mortality,” with Verena Graupmann, Ph.D., on Tuesday, February 17, from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. in 48 DeGarmo Hall. Graupmann is an assistant professor of psychological science at DePaul University.

Graupmann earned an M.A. in psychology from Ludwig-Maximilians-Universitat in Munich, Germany, in 2002 and a Ph.D. in social psychology from the University of Sussex, in the United Kingdom, in 2008. Her major areas of interest include threats to central self-motives and unwanted relationships. Graupmann’s work has been published in journals including Peace and Conflict: Journal of Peace Psychology, Social Cognitive and Affective Neuroscience [SCAN], and the International Journal of Psychology.
