Illinois State University President Larry Dietz and U.S. Ambassador to Panama Jonathan D. Farrar met with the rector of Quality Leadership University (QLU), Oscar Leon, in January to talk about promoting new relationships between Illinois State University and institutions in Panama.

Accompanying Dietz were Assistant Provost Rita Bailey, Director of the Office of International Studies and Programs Luis Canales, College of Education Dean Perry Schoon, Interim Director of the School of Teaching and Learning Tony Lorsbach, and Associate Director and Graduate Programs Coordinator Linda Haling.

Quality Leadership University is a private university located in Panama City. It was founded in 1997 and offers academic programs in business administration, business marketing, international business, communication science, engineering management, and human resources management and development. QLU currently has over 700 students enrolled in bachelor’s and master’s level programs and hosts several important international partnerships with institutions in the United States and Europe.

This visit was arranged as part of Illinois State University’s continuing focus on increasing international partnerships that promote study abroad opportunities and international student enrollment.
