The New Sounds Uptown concert series at the University Galleries will feature Muyassar Kurdi at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 3. Kurdi is a Chicago-based artist, writer, and avant-noise musician who accompanies her dreamy Eastern-inflected vocals with autoharp modified by digital effects.

New Sounds Uptown at the University Galleries is an ongoing series of genre-bending concerts, providing exposure for musician-composers whose work diverges from the traditional formats of jazz, classical, pop and rock.

New Sounds Uptown is made possible by an award from the Harmon Arts Grant Program.
