This is the first year that students at Metcalf School have been able to participate in track as an Illinois Elementary School Association (IESA) sport. The school added track for students in grades six through eight.

Metcalf’s Wildcats participated in their first meet at Central Catholic in Bloomington. The Holy Trinity Invitational may have been a bit intimidating for Metcalf’s very first meet, but the runners handled the pressure in stride. Head coach Rachel Matyasse provided the following results:

  • Matthew D. got third in the sixth grade boys’ 100 meter with a time of 14.82 seconds.
  • Metcalf’s sixth grade boys’ 4×200 meter relay team of Matthew D., Colton N., Gavin M., and Connor H. finished third with a time of 2:20.
  • Caroline B. got third in the seventh grade girls’ 800 with a time of 2:59.
  • Jahda D. got second in the girls’ 100 meter with a time of 14.5 seconds and fourth in the girls’ 200 meter with a time of 30.12 seconds. She is a seventh grader but received these places in the eighth grade girls’ races.
