Music by contemporary composers will be featured during Illinois State University’s 2014 RED NOTE New Music Festival, March 29 to April 3. This year’s festival will feature guest composer Steven Stucky, a Pulitzer Prize winner and faculty member at the Juilliard School. Guest ensembles will be The City of Tomorrow wind quintet and the Momenta Quartet.

The festival’s opening concert by the Illinois State University Symphony and Chamber Orchestras will take place at 7 p.m. Sunday, March 29, in the University’s Center for the Performing Arts Concert Hall. Tickets for the performance are $10 for adult general admission, $8 for faculty/staff and $6 for students and seniors. The concert will feature contemporary orchestral music by festival guest composer Steven Stucky, Roger Zare and Illinois State School of Music Assistant Professor Martha Horst.

Other Red Note New Music Festival concerts will take place in the University’s Kemp Recital Hall. Admission to those performances is free.
