As of Wednesday, July 1, the Illinois State University campus is smoke- and tobacco-free. That move is in compliance with the Illinois Smoke-Free Campus Act and other state laws.

Under the new law, smoking and tobacco use are prohibited on all campus property, including buildings, grounds, parking lots, and vehicles owned or operated by the University. Smoking and tobacco use are allowed in privately-owned vehicles when traveling through campus or parked in an unenclosed lot on campus.

Smoking-cessation resources are available to faculty, staff, and students through the Health Promotion and Wellness office. Additional information on the applicable state laws and their implementation at Illinois State is available online at IllinoisState.edu/SmokeFree.
