Calling all beginning runners! If you’ve always wanted to become a runner, are at least try it out, get signed up for these Couch to 5K training sessions.

Held on Mondays from 6–7 p.m. September 28–October 19, our experienced trainers will help you develop a plan to get you off the couch and complete a 5K. Trainers will lead you through four weeks of sessions with a goal of competing in the Homecoming Town and Gown 5K on October 24.

Register by September 25; cost is just $20 for any member of the Student Fitness Center. All you need to get involved is a pair of running shoes, short blocks of time in addition to the normal meeting sessions, and the support of your fellow runners in training. The next thing you know, you’ll be crossing that finish line.

“These training sessions are a great opportunity to actually enjoy running,” said Alana Harris, assistant director for fitness. “Starting a new exercise is always difficult, but the motivation and knowledge of our trainers as well as the support of the others in the class will help make running fun.”
